Hendrix, Burke A. “Memory In Native American Land Claims. Political Theory, 33.6. (Dec., 2005). pg. 763-785. Print.
This article recognizes the fact that the relocation of Native Americans to designated Indian Reserves throughout the U.S. is not only an issue concerning legal principles, but questions of morality as well. Hendrix advocates in this article for the justification of Native American land claims to compromise for the land lost on illegitimate terms during the early 1900’s. In terms of who should now rightfully own the land, it is clear that modern day American citizens would be in the wrong. The reservations are inadequate for the sustaining the survival of such rich culture among these ethnic groups, and we have now run the risk of endangering the Native American cultures’ existence. This article relates very well to my topic and provides a lot of insight as to how the survival and longevity of such a rich, historic culture has been threatened due to the faulty promises of our preceding generations.
